Tybee Island Beach Bum Parade
Tybee Island, Georgia / May 18th
The Beach Bum Parade might surprise the unsuspecting visitor. Like most parades, there are floats pulled behind cars and trucks. Unlike most parades, however, the floats, often trailers or boats, are filled with water-throwing paraphernalia. Spectators, lined up along the parade route on Butler Avenue, armed with buckets, squirt guns and hoses. What results is an all-out water war for fun loving beach bums of all ages.

Independence Day Fireworks
Tybee Island, Georgia / Pier / July 3rd
Tybee’s annual celebration of America’s birthday. Come early and plan to stay late as this is one of Tybee’s busiest days of the year and the island fills up fast. The show starts around dark thirty (around 9:15pm). The fireworks are staged on the pier, but they are easily viewed from any of Tybee’s eastern beaches.
